Problématique : What impact have Superheroes had on American society ? I/ The context of creation The superhero was inspired by comics books, superheroes with superhuman strength ans desire to save the world became the stuff of many a child's and also numerous adults dreams ans fantasies. The comic genre was creates in the USA between the 2 wars which succeeded "pulp magazines" The first hero was Superman in Action Comics in 1938. Then followed Batman, Captain America and many others. The comic genre exploded between 1939 and 1941, in the middle of WW2. At that time, whereas America was undergoing economic recession of the cnsq of the Great Depression of 1930s. The authors of comic boks politized more and more their comment. It is in this period when "sper patriotic" hereos like Captain America are born. II/ The comics, a reflection of history and American society. We notice that is when the world is in crisis that the Superheroes wrk best. It is understandable because of the courage and the determination of the characters. The genre has one strong allegorical power since the beginning its was inspired by the social and political reality of its reader. For example, on the first cover of his series, Captain America punched Hitler. The story of the Superheroes am the history of America and we can say that it is a reflection of American society. We can take as example the characters of Spiderman who is a young studient and who has prblems as the young people of this age, he is to divided between his role of superhero and his story of heart. The readers are touch by this kind of story which look like them and becomes indenfied whith the character of Spiderman outside highly-rated super powers. III/ Influence on American society As the years and superheroes have managed to become a commercial product and reach different types of audiances and be more present int our dayly lives. Now the superheroes are openly and affects more than limited slice of the society. Now many products are inspired by superheroes, in the fashion, in the art.. Particulary in the art with the artist called Greg Segal who photographed superhereos in everyday life: far from the image of the perfect superhero who spend his time to saving the world we can also see a critical dimension as the superheroes in the Usa are values such as masculinity and political courage. They are also by-products in decoraction, videos games and toys... Cnsq in the real life Sometimes even ordinary citizen used identities of Superheroes with masks, capes and combinations to help their next one on the local plan, by practising activities, tuition of self defence and first aid, help the most deprives, or still the cleaning of streets. CONCLUSION. The superhero is one of the most emblematic figures of culture Science Fiction. Appeared in the first half of the 20th century in American publications, he has long since crossed the boundaries of comics to become a true icon of modern times, appearing in many facets of our culture and finding their place in the society.
