Sujet du devoir

Je suis étudiante et je passe un oral d'anglais pouvez vous m aider à corriger mes erreurs.
Je fais un exposé oral sur un article de presse britannique.

Où j'en suis dans mon devoir

This article was published in "the guardian" on fifteen march 2010, and entitled: "tories up tree in guardian / ICM poll as Labour fightback stalls".

Indeed, this article shows voting intentions for the general election in the UK for 2010.
The Prime minister’s deep unpopularity is continuing to harm Labour’s election chances, and this poll shows the gap between the two main parties has grown to nine points.

CONSERVATIVE support has been within three points of forty pourcent in all ICM poll.
LABOUR support has been within two points of thirty pourcent.
LIBERAL DEMOCRATS have been within two points of twenty pourcent.

While the Labour party reigns in the House of Communs for thirteen years, why is it declining?

First, It is necessary to remember that in the 18th century, a gradual establishment of formal parliamentary groupings: The Whigs and the Tories.
The Tories were defenders of the Crown and the establishment Anglican Church while the Whigs drew their inspiration from The Glorious Revolution and supported the interests of trade and finance.

In addition, the first hostilities make already the title of the Brish government.
The battle focuses on the two major parties, which have shared power since 1940.
Both sides have seen greats leaders like Margaret Thatcher for the conservatives and Tony Blair for the Labour.

Since 1997, the labour party reigns in the House of commons
Indeed, it‘s a landslide victory with 418 (four hundred and eighteen) Labour Mps, and a majority of 179 (one hundred seventy-nine).
On 5 May 2005, a third consecutive term in government with new leader Gordon Brown.

...

However, this constancy is in doubt for the population, but also, by the members of the party who don't see any more in Brown the leader necessary for a victory.

...

An advance which revives the shadow of governance Thatcher remained eleven years in power.

Futhermore, since the end of Second World War, the UK currently knows, the longest recession.
Indeed, election happen in a recession, bringing economic and social problems, which put a strain on plans for government actions.

Also, the UK has the poverty rate the highest in Western Europe.
Indeed, risinf food and fuel cost, a fall in house prices and a tax move by Brown, increase the number of poor.

Hello there!
- in The Guardian on March 15th 2010 and is entitled
- As the Labour Party has reigned in the House of Commons for 15 years
- that in the 18th century ( problème de syntaxe : supprimer "that" ? )
- already make the title ( the headline ? ) Pb de calque sur le français ?
- great leaders ( adjectifs invariables en anglais )
- since 1997 the Labour Party has reigned ( present perfect )
- Indeed, it WAS a landslide victory ( dans le passé = preterit )
- However... Phrase à revoir complètement ( syntaxe calquée sur le français )
- idem pour la phrase suivante
- since the end of World War II, the UK has suffered the longest recession ever.
- Moreover, the UK has the highest poverty rate in Western Europe.

Correction incomplète. Mais trop tard ce soir...
Bye!
