I'm going to talk about the notions of places and forms of power. To introduce this notion, i would like to give a definition of this concept: Place are major building or institutions that represent a certain form of power, for example Buckingham Palace is a symbol of the British monarchy, or the White house is a symbol of the American presidency. The word power represents the capacity to exercice control or authority. There are various types of power like dictatorship, democracy or monarchy. For many year, those power have led nation, by establishing rules, regulations, or laws accept by members of a community. This helps to create social cohesion but can also lead to conflicts and tensions. In this notion, i have chosen to talk about the death penalty in the USA who is one of the best forms of authories in the history.
It goals is punish the condemned by the death because of a crime they commited. During centuries, the death penalty was used in different way, like hanging, electric chair, or guillotine. And now a lot of countries decided to abolish it, like in france, in 1981 under Francois Mitterrand's presidency but death penalty is still current in USA and it's a highly controversial subject.
So we can ask ousvelves if the death penalty is the best way to achieve justice. Does a man deserve to die? 
To answer this question, i'm going to use tree documents: a poster, a map and a newspaper article.
Firstly, i will study the country's attitude with this problel, and then i will talk about the American population's opinion.

Firstly, through the first document which is a map of the united states of America who discribe the position of the states with te death penalty. We can see that all the states do not have the same constitution. We can observe four various categories: the first shows tree states into witch there is no more execution since 1976, the second into witch two states declared to have a statute unconstitutionnal, the third whose thirteen states show a statute into witch there is no current death penalty and the last categories which is constituted of thirty tree states where the executions are performed since 1976 such as Carlifornia o Pennsylvania. So, we can see a paradoxe between the different way to treat the capital punishment in the USA. 
Secondly, the second document is a newspaper article extract from the magazine "the economist". It was written on november 12, 2010 by an American journalist. It talks about the death penalty and miscarriage of justice. With it, we learn that miscarriage justice are made and that 80 % of Americans who participated to the poll know that innocent people have been excuted yet 83 % say they are in favour with the death penalty. Those innocent people are call collateral domage. And approximately 50 % of respondents think that rape and kidnapping should be punish by the death penalty. this numbers show that a majority of american's population know that there are mistake and innocent people are dying but they prefer to let it as it is because it is perceveid as necessary to bring order and as an effective deterrent.
It's the third document who is a poster against the death penalty who explain to us that some people fight against the capital punishment and want to abolish it. poster was done by "amnesty international" on october 2011. On this one, we can see the title "End the death penalty", a corde and man representing the condemn to death. 

To conclude, we have seen that the differents states of the USA react in differents way but a majority execut the death penalty and a majority of the population is agree with. However a part of the population think that it's an inhumane practice because innocent people are kill. Today, the death penalty subject is still topical and we can ask if it's necessary to do away with it or to keep it as it is. The application of life imprisonment should be a better way to combat crimes and the death penalty should be abolish.
