Où j'en suis dans mon devoir

I am going to talk about the spaces and exchanges. In order to illustrate his notion i have chosen to talk about the global or local food and attempt to answer the question «What links can be established between how to feed ourselves and the level of development of societies?».

I:Companies in emerging countries that are developing and aspiring to consume as developed countries. Many ingredients come from different countries, such as the corn is from Italy, the cheese from Australia, the machines come from  Asia but the crisps are being made right here in Dubai. This implies globalization, including world trade. In recent years, sales of processed food have a rise of 12% and sales of fresh food are growing much more slowly (+ 2%) so there is a bigger demand for processed foods than fresh foods .In the last two years in Dubai, it has happened that the number of companies that represent food processing and packaging business in Dubai has more than tripled.  The Demand for processed food in Europe and the USA is decreasing. International businesses want to expand their market over the Middle East, they say that Being in Dubai and the Gulf is a good way of expanding in the Middle East. Coca is one of the biggest drink business in the Middle East. They have agreed to invest $ 1 billion (nearly  half of the biggest saudi-based drink industry). The reasons mentioned for big companies investing there are the growth of the population (more and more people = more and more customers) and processed foods = added value (the difference between what it costs to make and item and the price you sell it). Processed foods sold by DelMonte are for example Packaged Juices, Fruits and Vegetables, Fresh or Frozen or Canned. People buy DelMonte products because they consider them better than other products. The associate these products with the Western lifestyle (American, European). The new markets are Libya, Tunisia, Egypt and Irak, they are emerging markets, they have emerged thanks to of political shake-ups over recent years.

II: the societies in developed countries that are facing ecological awareness and in which an increasing part of the population is seeking to consume differently. The reasons to become locavore are to support local agriculture, it is an economic principle of the farmers then to eliminate the carbon footprint associated to the transport which is an environmental principle. There are many reasons to try a local diet. Some people become locavores because they want to support their local farmers and economy. For example with the video "Family says no to processed food", they made a promise to stay away from all industrially and refined food for a hundred days. Thanks to this, this family has had advantages like losing weight, having more energy, feeling energetic all day long, having a good cholesterol level, no more constipation. Everyone likes this "new" way of cooking. This family contribute to supporting local agriculture and protecting the environmental , but does not mention those as a primary motivation; they have changed their diet for more "personal" reason. Furthermore, it is not necessarily very complicated to become a locavore because there are several options. Becoming a locavore may seem difficult at first because we have to sacrifice certain foods. BUT locally, the food produced can be varied and offer a lots of choices, especially if our geographical limits are not too restricted. We can adapt our diet according to three options: The ultrastrict locavore diet is strictly restricted to geographic limits. The Marco Polo rule is local products and spices. The wild card is local products and a few other foods that we think we can't live without like for example tea, coffee, chocolate …But all locavores do not follow the rules in the same way. Some local food movement followers even maintain their own gardens. Comunity supported agricultural groups allow locavores to forge relationships with local farmers. People also become locavores for health reasons or simply because they believe that local foods have a better taste.

To conclude, ....
