Agatha Mary Clarissa Miller was born on 15 September 1890 in Torquay, England.
Her parents offer her an education at home well-kept, then it is essentially her mother who takes care of her further to the death of his father. This education allows her to write very early poems, tales and news, encouraged by her mother.
In 1920, she finds publishing, Bodley Head, who agrees to publish her first novel "La Mystérieuse Affaire de Styles" where Hercule Poirot appears for the first time. In 1926, with the publication of his seventh novel, "Le Meurtre de Roger Ackroyd", Agatha Christie becomes one of the major figures of the police novel. Her success is assured thanks to the characters of Hercule Poirot and Beauty queen Marple.
In 1928, the divorce is pronounced. In 1927, during a cruise in the Middle East, she gets acquainted of the archaeologist Sir Max Mallowan, who she marries in second wedding in 1930. She accompanies him then in Syria and in Iraq, for archaeological series of excavations which she will transpose as decoration into some stories, in particular "Meurtre en Mésopotamie".
Agatha Christie dies on January 12th, 1976 in his residence of Wallingford, near Oxford.
