Spaces and exchanges

Introduction:

I’m talking about the notion: « spaces and exchanges ».  A space may be continuous area or expance which free, avaible or unoccupied. But an exchange it’s the act of giving or receiving something in substitution for something else. The word exchange can take different forms: economic/cultural/movement of people.

Economic --> work exchanges, trading across boarders, exchange of goods

Cultural --> exchange of ideas, information, education

Movements of people --> immigration, student exchanges, gap-years…

Today, exchanges are facilitated thanks to the new technologies like internet.

In this presentation I’m going to speak of the migrations. Often we heard the quotation: The grass is greener on the other side of the hill” So I’ll try to answer the question: Is the grass always greener on the other side?

I) The reasons why people emigrate

There are a lot of reasons why people emigrate. It can be for economic reasons. People hope to find a job and make a living for help family who are stay in their country. They are also religious reasons, in a lot of countries at war all of religious aren’t accepted, and people have to escape from their country. It’s also often political reasons, when the government of the country is a dictatorship escape it’s a solution with the intention to have a better life.

All people have good reasons to emigrate and there is a multitude of different reasons to escape of his country. But it’s not all the time easy.

II) Going abroad is not so easy

For example, the immigration of the South America in the USA it’s so complicated. A lot of migrants dead in the trip, the trip conditions are horrible can be on the top of a train, or on a boat in a poor condition with a lot of migrants. The trip can be very long and people can’t eat or drink. For going in America some people are obliged to work for drug dealers and it’s very dangerous.

But, some people have succeeded abroad and have become famous.

III)  Immigration success-stories

Some people were made success in the other side of the hill. Tony Parker for example, it’s a French people and a basketball player. He was going in USA and, in 2007 he married with Eva Longoria an American actress. Today, he continues his internationals exploits.

Conclusion:

The grass isn’t always greener in the other side of the hill, because a lot of people fail to live a better life. Emigrate it’s very complicated and the trip is very dangerous. Furthermore, find a job abroad is very difficult even if the reasons of the migration are good.

In this presentation I spoke of migrations but exchanges can be possible with the new technologies also.
