Où j'en suis dans mon devoir

I'm going to talk about the notion Myths and Heroes. First of all, I would like to give a definition of a Myth. It's a popular history that related legendary facts about heroes. It mosly give a strong message to people. They can establish models for behavior. Some people use them to reproduce the conditions of the mythical age. It exist differents type of myths depending on their story. A Cosmogony explain the history of the universe. Other can explained the Birth of gods like the Olympian gods. It can explain Human's creation like the Myth of Adam and Eve. It can also explain the foundation of a town. Rome is a perfect example. Indeed, it's a great myth with Romulus and Remus who are raised by a she-wolf. An heroe is an imaginary and real character that achieve the legendary facts or real facts, most of the time. They have great qualities such as courage, temerity, hopeful and self-sacrifice. They use them in order to save the others that they don't know. They can save all a country and become a patriotic or national hero like Nelson Mandela who become the first black president in South Africa. They can be also fictitious like the comic heroes, cartoon heroes. One of the most known is Superman for example. We can also have our own personal hero. Indeed, when we was child, we looked her parents like incredible persons. But some heroes carved in the rock since they are defender of common values like Ghandi in India. He's also a national Heroe who lead his country to independence. But we musn't forget everyday Heroes like fireman who have to save people from dangerous situation.
In order to illustrate the notion, I have chosen 3 documents. The first document is a cartoon on which the Native American are building a fence to prevent the Pilgrin Father from entering in the US. Playmouth rock, the place where we suppose they arrived, is carved in a rock. This place is mythical since everybody in the US know it and it's the origin of the first English European who went to the US. Thanks to the founding fathers, America become the Nation we know. When we speak about Native Americans and Pilgrings father, we must talk about Thanksgiving. Indeed, Native Americans didn't build a fence to prevent the Pilgrin Father from entering in the US(contrary to what the cartoonist draw) but they help them survive. Thus, they welcomed the Europeans and towgh them to grow maize.
As second document, I chose President Obama Speaks in Selma since like the precedent document, it's a important place for US history. He said his Speech on the famous Edmund Petters Bridge because it was the place where heroes of the Civil Rights Movement walk during a March. This Marchs had for goal to demand the right to vote for Black people. However, on that bridge, a lot of people were killed by policemen whereas they demonstrated without violence. On his speech, he pay a tribute to John Lewis, Martin Luther King and other great personality who fight for an ideal of justice like heroes do. He also compares this location to other famous site like Independence Hall and Seneca Falls. But he insists on the fact that they were ordinary people before being heroes. Also , he say that this heroes didn't think one day that they will be heroes. Thus, everybody can become an heroes just by making act which will make the world better. Indeed, it was worth to do the 3 Selma to Montgomery marches. These heroes don't die for nothing.
Eventually, I would like to speak about about a man who had a lot of importance during and after Apartheid. He fought agains racism and a better life for Black people like Martin Luther King. Of course, I speak about Nelson Mandela. This man, who was considered as a terrorist by the "oppressor " government, is elected President when Apartheid was dismantled. We consider him as a heroe since he always put the cause of justice and freedom from oppression. Also, in spite of the fact that he was convited to 27 years in prison, he refuse to bow to pressure to accept injustice to keep himself out of prison. He had too an ability to put away revenge for the good of all people in South Africa. All this qualities give him a power of a leader. That's why he is the perfect man to become the President of a country which has a new policy since they end segragation in 1992.
