Me re-voilà (eh c'est pas fini ...! ) cette fois pour la notion de Places and Forms of Power.

J'ai choisi de parler des médias mais je veux savoir ce que vous pensez de mon texte (problématique, développement, j'ai peur que cela fasse un peu brouillon à certains endroits...) J'attends vos précieux avis !

NOTION PLACES AND FORMS OF POWER

Firstly i would give the definition of the notion of places and forms of power:

Power is the ability to influence the behavior of people. In order to live together members of a community accept rules and laws. This helps to create social cohesion but can also lead to conflicts and tensions. Even when authority seems absolute, there are always counter-powers which question it, aim at limiting its excesses and resist it.

A form of power could be media. Today i would talk about : how much power do the media have over us?

Press was during a long time, a big help to give informations. Because internet was not existing yet and people have need to get some news of the world. News paper was powerful because it was one of the only source of informations people have approximately every where.

Then, radio is bord and people founded the possibility to heard the new informations. It was maybe better tant news paper because someone was talking in the little box and it was great for people feeling loneliness in the world. With radio and informations they were finally not alone.

Then Tv and computer was bord. People was hypnotized by the lighting screen. With tv, people was like face to face with tv presentators and they could see every part of the world. Tv became a quicker help to get informations.

And computers was connected to internet. With this new way to found informations, people have the possibility to know everything and people are feeling powerful.

Thanks to social networks people have access to other people with same interest and they can make some exchanges of ideas or informations.

Celebrities and politicians founded « The » power of communication. They can use media like tv or internet to spread their ideas and become more powerful with these media.

But media can also be corrupted by these people, politicians and others. It’s becoming difficult for people to know if informations are finally really informations. Politicians, governments can manipulate informations and media to drive for their own interest.

In this case, media can be a pack of lies.

And it’s finally becoming a tool for dictator, to built a dictatorship. Because without real informations, people are finally almost lost and cant have something to refer too.

But it’s true, radio, news paper, social networks, finally media can bring people together. And it’s a real power, because if politicians can use to spread their ideas, people can use as a counter power too. Creating their own information system with another media, bringing people together to struggle for freedom in case of dictatorship for example. Or simply, in démocratie to give their opinion.

Media is giving us some power and some freedom.
