Où j'en suis dans mon devoir

Friday, December 18th,

Dear diary,

I didn’t write to you for a long time. I have a reason : I took a gap year in Rajasthan in the aim to revive with my origins. I have a lot of things to tell you as usual. Which way can I start ?

Before my departure, mum was really anxious. She was dreading this moment. It was the first time that I had seen foot in India ! I must admit that I was nervous too. How can I manage this year out in India ? I am not really sociable as you know. Let’s come back to the subject. The good-byes were really hard. I tried to don’t burst into tears. On board of the plane, I tried to imagine this year off in a foreign country. Will it be a waste of time as Sophie said ? I had a quiet voice wich told me fortunately : « It won’t be a waste of time because you will not sit at home with your feet up, so whatever you will doing can’t be called a waste of time. » Thank you the voice ! A few hours later, the man who was sit near to wake up. It was 8 :00, I have my head in the clouds.

At Indira Gandhi international airport, I saw a woman with a sign where I can read my name « Sinthujaa CHANDRABALA ». I read again the sign in the order to chek if it was really my name. Yes, Sinthujaa CHANDRABALA is my name. I came up to this women, I was really uneasy. However, her pleasant smile gave myself courage. I give the presentation miss. I omitted to tell you, the heat is intense in India ! The route towards the Rajasthan’s desert was really long. During the journey, I thought that this gap year will be the worst of all. But I made a huge mistake . This year was indescribable. I learnt a lot of things within the Bishnois’s communuty. They live in an unhealthy place, however they have a stenght of character. The children whose I taught english was really touching in particular a little girl, Devi who lost her father during my gap year. Two days after her father’s death, I visited her in the aim to know how she is ( she should be downcast). Devi told me « There is a life after the death, I miss him but I know that he is happy where he is ». I was really impressed by this little girl. She was only 8 ! Did you remenber my key’s strory ? I was overwhelm because I lost my key. A key !!!
They shared with me there love of animals and nature. Do you know that they are the firt ecologist in the world ? They welcomed me like a member of their family. It was really really really a warmth welcome.
My departure to London was…I don’t have the word. I bursted out sobbing… I really missed this communuty. I am certain that I will go to Rajasthan again.
