Is the way of teaching foreign langages in France attractive ? At school, we must acquire
a basic knowledge to be admitted to university for example. This education includes
english, spanish or germain practise. However, everybody can understand that it’s a lot
of work to learn an other language and the success depends of the students but also of
the teachers.
It is easier to study something you like than something you dislike, but
students sould be enough conscientious to wonder : « Is there a concordance between
my attitude and my ambitions ? ». This amounts to saying that students could be mature
younger. Actually, I sustain it’s impossible. Therefore, teachers have to find some
attractive cheats to interest their pupils. To my mind, reading comprehension is the
best method to improve your written tests ! What I mean is if you know a lot
vocabulary you will enjoy writting essays thanks to the grammar you assimilated !
Watching movies without subtitles is a great method to be ready for a trip in
America for exemple, because you’re not working on academic subjects, you’re just
learning about current life. Nevertheless, I think it’s not supposed to be a part of our
syllabus. I argue that most of the time, serious students would like to study
litterature, history or the mores of a state and once a month having a break to debate
on the news. Besides, teachers should create some level teams to encourage the
competition and then adapt students’ work to everyone’s skills. In addition, some of us
needn’t to have a perfect english, german or spanish mastery, so they shouldn’t be
obliged to attend two or three foreign languages classes.
I’d like to conclude saying that we must change just a bit the way of teaching foreign
languages in France. To a certain extend, there’s nothing else to improve except our level.
