Merci!

My notion is the idea of progress. By progress, I understand an advance in many fields such as in technology, in medicine, and so on… We are going to base ourselves especially in the technological progress. So, to illustrate that notion, I’ll talk about telecommuting.

Telecommuting is a modern trend which consists on working from home or from other places, expect workplaces, with computers and internet.

Problematic: why people choose to work from home?

Traditionally, office workers start their work-day at 9 am and finish at 5 pm because of that they have to leave their home earlier in the morning and come back late. Not only the long trek causes them to be tired, but they don’t have enough time to spend with their loved ones too. That is why people choose to telecommute, especially when they are multi-tasking people.

We can say that working in an office is quiet difficult. In fact, this is what Jason Fried said when we listened to the recording entitled “I got nothing done today.”

When Jason Fried gave a lecture about the reasons why people choose to telecommute, the main reason mentioned was the fact that the office workers work in pieces. They can never finish a task because they are always disturbed: by colleagues, by the boss, and so on… So many of white collar say at the end of the day: “I got nothing done today”. You were at work, you did some tasks but “you didn’t actually get meaningful work done”. Reason why some people telecommute, because they need long stretches uninterrupted time, especially when they are engineers, designers, writers, thinkers or creative people.

Let’s remember that telecommuters benefit from flexibility of time and location... It means that firstly, they have to manage their schedule plan as they want. Secondly, they can work remotely where they want too: it can be at home, in a garden, in a park, and so on…Due to that they can avoid, if they want it, traffic jams, and stress which is caused by the long trek.

Now I would like to talk about Fuentek Company. Founded in 2001 by Laura Shoppe, this virtual company which commercialized new technology is today a multi-million dollar company. Note that all forty employers of Fuentek are required to telecommute. When journalist interviewed Laura Shoppe, she declared that telecommute was the better choice for her and her colleagues because they are very productive and Laura gets loyalty too. Fuentek is home-based, but it shows that we can excel without working in an office, and that telecommuting idea is a very serious way to work.

To conclude, we can say that telecommuting is really improving our life because it allows us to be more productive in our job, to take care of our health, to be more enthusiasts, and to pay more attention on our family life. Finally telecommuting can be considered as a meaningful recommendation for improving well-being because, it illustrates advance of technology and it is also a change in the society.

My notion is the idea of progress. By progress, I understand (understand? "mean" ne serait-il pas plus approprié ?) an advance in many fields such as in technology, in medicine, and so on… We are going to base ourselves especially in the technological progress. Bonjour,

A bientot!!
