This interview is about an Indian businessman who made success in Jamaica. He is talking about his experience and the reasons why he chose Jamaica to set up his business but also about the obstacles he met.
His experience is quite positive because his business is successful and he has expanded his business out of Jamaica.
He also hints at the pros and cons of doing business in a third world country. This can be very difficult because of healthcare access issues. Aids and malaria are big issues and without a job people cannot access healthcare.
Globablization has positive things like cheap labor but can create job losses.

Salam decided to settle down in Jamaica for many reasons. First of all, he made an internship in a bank in Jamaica. Then he met his wife, Gerinda. She was working in a four star hotel in Kingstom. They both liked Jamaica because of its climate, its relaxed lifestyle, and incentives to set up businesses (low taxes...). They also came from underpriviledged background and wanted to contribute to the developement of Jamaica.

His parents lent him money for the downpayment. But friends, relatives and sponsors (tourist agencies...) helped him too.

His daughter lives in India and has an IT business. She helped him for the IT tasks

He outsourced the IT tasks from India and electronic products from China

There are many major obstacles such as the healthcare access. People must be in good health to be able to work. Malaria, aids are major issues. education and healthcare access are essential and jobs are essential for having access to healthcare.
Other issues are drugs, pollution...
