Spaces and exchanges

The notion I'm going to deal with is “spaces and exchanges”. First of all, I would like to introduce this notion. An exchange is the action to address, to send mutually things. Most of the time we can note an imbalance in the exchanges, is the case for the immigration for example. But what are the reasons which make people immigrate to the USA? To answer this question, I will divide my study in three parts. Firstly, we'll put forward the fact of USA was built upon immigration, then we'll see that sometimes immigration is the only choice of people to have a better life. To finish, we'll analyze different criteria that make the USA a deeply attractive country.

Immigration constitutes the DNA of America, which was built thanks to immigrants waves. An information reminded by Barack Obama, during his recent speech about immigration. Most of them (that is to say “Americans”) come from someplace else except the Native American. He returns on the history of waves of immigration for example when Germans fled persecutions or when there was the potato famine in Ireland or even the Japanese, Chinese, Italians and Russians who came from Ellis Island. It is thanks to the contribution of each group of immigrants that we have the America of today.

But if immigrants of past generation who made America thus, how explain the fact that the numbers of migrants strongly increase every year ?

Increasing number of people want to leave their country and immigrate from USA. They are very much persons who go in North America illegally for several reasons. Most of the time they want fled war, conflicts, dictatorship or human right abuse. They want a better life and fled poverty. In 2011, 11,5 millions undocumented cross the border into the USA despite the measures taken by the government. However, this can seems contradictory because every years USA receive a big number of refugees, they set up a DV lottery which permit 50 000 persons to win a visa. Besides, they are planning to welcome 85 000 refugees by the end of the next year.

But why USA stay an attractive country for immigration? Why immigrants choose most of the time America ?

USA is the country more attractive in the World. It is an opportunity to young people go in USA to study, to work. But is an opportunity for new investor who believe in the American dream. It is a means of climb on the social ladder.

To conclude we can say that immigration in USA is constantly on the rise for several reasons but today the immigration is more controlled and the access is more difficult for undocumented migrants like Mexicans for example.
