In my opinion, parents should not interfere with their children's choices. They should only advise and guide them. It is important for any child to rely on his or her parents. They know that their parents have enough experience to tell them what to do in their life and to avoid making mistakes. But parents should not tell their children the way they should behave or what decision they should make. For instance, when a highschool student has to make a choice for his or her future, he or she will turn towards his or her parents to seek their advice. His or her parents should only advise him/her on his/her studies but should not impose their views because it is the future of the student and the choice he or she will make will have an impact on his or her life.

Nevertheless, parents can help their children to make the right choice and may interfere in their children's choices if they think they are about to make a big mistake that will have consequences on their life. Moreover, children lack maturity and may not think right. So parents may help them to make the right choice. So to some extent, they will interfere in their children's choice but this will be a good thing to avoid any trouble... Therefore, I will say that parents should only guide and advise their children to tell them if they are on the good track or not but should remain distant if not they will be “toxic parents” and this is not very healthy for the children. The children will have no way to do what they want and will have to do what their parents want to do. In this case, we are talking about dysfunctional families.
