"               The notion I’m going to speak about is that of spaces and exchanges. I’m going to introduce this notion through the theme of global cities. To do so, I will try and answer the following question : «How far can we say that global cities are the center of world exchanges  ? ».

                First, I’ll define the notion of spaces and exchanges. A space can be real or virtual, it’s a place where people and things who surround us evolve in community or not, they are very many differents spaces. And in these differents spaces take place exchanges, an exchange is act of giving a thing and receiving something else in return, exchanges are omnifarious.

                Global cities are a good example of spaces for illustrate this notion, because a global city is a very big city where concentrate millions of people from various origins, many economics activities, lot of cultural venues and sometime a some number of political bodies.

                These dynamic hubs, like Singapore that we have studied in class, are the origin of large exchanges. To begin, we can speak about the immigration. Indeed, global cities are spaces who know lot of immigration, the ethnic population of a global city is very mixed. For example, at Singapore, the three quarter of resident are chinese and the remaining quarter is composed of Malay, Indian, Europeans, Americans and other. These migrations imply also a great diversity of religions.

                Then, the touristic aspect is important in a global city. In general, global cities are spaces who attract many people. For instance, Paris is the global city the most touristic in the world. Every year, about 32 million of people visit Paris, which the half are strangers.

                Tourists are attracted by the influence of a global city but also the differents cultures of a global city. And it’s this cultural aspect that I will develop now. Global cities abound of cultural spaces such as theaters, cinemas, museums, parks, libraries, historical and touristic monuments and places. This is especially the oldest cities who have the most cultural spaces like european global cities.

                Moreover, it seems important to add the economic aspect of a global city because it’s at the origin of many exchanges through the world. A global city bring together differents business activities destined at the international exchange. The presence of multinational businesses, the presence of a stock market and the importance of airports and ports characterize a global city. The Singapore’s port is the second port of the world with about 600 millions tons of merchandise exchanged. All economics activities of a global city generate an impressive wealth, for example, the GDP of London is about 565 billions dollars.

                At last, we can talk about the political bodies in a global city. New York is the city where sit the headquarter of United Nation and Paris the headquarter of UNESCO. Moreover, it's always in the global cities that international conferences take place.

                In conclusion we have seen how the global cities are the center of world exchanges thanks of importance of immigration, tourism, culture, economy and politic. But they are faced with major challenges such as demographic and environment."
